Roehampton University
The Science department has established links with Roehampton University over the last three years. On previous years we have taken small, targeted groups of Year 11 students to the university just prior to their exams for a whole day and used their excellent facilities to run extremely focused revision days. The days were very successful in both raising the students’ knowledge in the subject and giving them aspiration to achieve to go to university. Because of their success, this year the department is planning to run more frequent trips to the university and open up the opportunity to more students.

Beatbullying
Shene have been working with the charity Beatbullying for 4/5 years running anti-bullying workshops for Shene pupils in all years and training up the pupils to be mentors and buddies to each other and to younger pupils.
The team are respected and liked by the pupils who enjoy doing activities through sports and group work, speaking about issues that go on and how they can positively deal with them.
At present, Shene have 71 pupils that have trained with Beatbullying and have now started to be mentors on 1-1 and to be support reader mentors for a small group of Year 7 and Year 8s.
The work is ongoing and we match up pupil to pupil with great care and continue to support the mentors in concerns that they may come up with with their mentees.
