Parent Teacher Association
We, the PTA, are a group of parents and school staff who organise fund raising events and run the Uniform Shop to provide extra money for the school. Funds are always needed for the extras that make the difference.
The Uniform Shop is run by volunteer parents and ex-parents and with 100% profit going to the school PTA projects. These projects include a new mini bus, refurbishing the Textile building and the ICT Suite, and generally supporting all school departments by funding trips, extra material etc.
In the past we have organised Fairs, Quiz Nights, Food Evenings and other social events. These are always great fun and with more new members of the PTA, we can continue this. Getting involved in the PTA is a great opportunity to get to know other parents and staff, and having a friendly PTA to sell good inexpensive uniforms and run fun events makes a big difference.
The PTA consists of about 15 members. These are Parents and Staff who work together as part of the Parent Teacher Association. Below, is a list of the key members. However, voluntary parents and carers also come along and help take part in the decision making process.
Ms. Lis Andersen - PTA Chair
Ms. Lesley Kirby - Head Teacher
Ms. Catherine Parsons - Uniform Shop
Ms. Jane Parker - Outgoing Treasurer
Ms. Najah Edwards - Incoming Treasurer
Ms. Helena Duckett - PTA secretary
Ms. Kate Sinfield - Teacher of PE & PTA Events Coordinator
Mr. Sebastian Takacz - Joint Events Coordinator
If you can spare any time and energy, or have any good ideas, come along to a PTA Meeting to find out what we are all about.
Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Staff
We are very excited about a current professional development opportunity for Shene staff. We are working with Roehampton University who are delivering an MA to 15 Shene School staff. Feedback is very positive from the university who are impressed with the quality of debate and the willingness of teachers to put in so many extra hours over their already full working weeks. This is a 3-year programme which began in September.
